Spicy Immune Oxymel

This is one of my favorite medicinal recipes, similar to fire cider, but not as harsh because of the honey. (You can easily turn this into fire cider by adding a few more ingredients like herbs (oregano, thyme, rosemary, etc), calendula, astragalus, horseradish, etc).

We take two tablespoons morning & night at the start of the cold season. You can take it straight, add a spoonful to warm water with lemon or use it as a dressing! It's so tasty, sweet & spicy perfection. Feel free to adjust the ingredients to your liking.

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 Cayenne peppers (fresh or dried)

  • 1 whole fresh head of garlic (smashed & roughly chopped)

  • 1/4 cup fresh ginger (grated or chopped)

  • 1 medium white (or purple) onion (chopped)

  • 32 ounce mason jar with lid

  • About 2 Cups Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (Braggs is the best & very accessible)

  • About 2 cups of Local Raw Honey

* Oxymel is 1:1 ratio of AVC to Honey.

Directions:

  1. Add all the ingredients into clean mason jar.

  2. Pour ACV over and fill about half way.

  3. Add in the honey & fill to top, stir with a wooden spoon, screw on lid & shake gently.

  4. Store in a cool, dark place, giving a gentle shake every few days, for 2-4 weeks then strain & enjoy! * I always err on the longer side for maximum potency.

* You should use a non-metal lid or place a piece of parchment paper in between to prevent oxidation.

* A little trick is to use a honey jar! I hate to waste all that good honey that gets left on the sides of the jar so i will either make a nice herbal water infusion in the jar or use it to make an oxymel!

*Add a few droppers full of Uplifting Spirits or Echinacea for added immune boosting actions!

Enjoy!
